Presentation: Everyone is excited about Digital Threads, but there has been little discussion of the practical issues, how do we create them and what value do we realize from them. In this presentation, we’ll explore those issues with real working examples using commercially available and open-source software. Building the digital thread requires browsing a wide range of engineering models and curating a configuration-managed network of inter-model connections using manual and automated methods. An equally wide range of analysis and visualization tools are needed to support multiple stakeholders with different information needs. We will discuss the critical metrics that can be extracted from the thread for project management purposes. Other topics include DevOps-type workflow automation, data security and the role of the new SysML 2.0 API standard.
