Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) Certification ...
The International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) has established a multi-level Professional Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) Certification Program to provide a formal method for recognizing the knowledge and experience of systems engineers, regardless of where they may be in their career.
Certification is a formal process whereby a community of knowledgeable, experienced, and skilled representatives of an organization, such as INCOSE, provides confirmation of an individual's competency (demonstrated knowledge, education, and experience) in a specified profession. Certification differs from licensing in that licenses are permissions granted by a government entity for a person to practice within its regulatory boundaries. Certification also differs from a "certificate" that documents the successful completion of a training or education program.

Recognition for Certification Achievement
The Chesapeake Chapter hosts a Reception "Annual SEP Gala" to acknowledge the certification of Systems Engineering Professionals (SEPs) among its members and members of other local chapters.
The cycle for recognition begins in July of the prior year through June of the current year. This reception is hosted to support not only members of Chesapeake Chapter but also includes invitations to area chapters to include the Washington Metro Area Chapter and Southern Maryland Chapter. The reception is typically held at The Engineers Club in Baltimore Maryland "The Garrett-Jacobs Mansion".
Each attendee at the annual SEP Gala is recognized with a certificate of achievement signed by the Chapter President and a medallion. This celebration is open and we invite you to join us as we congratulate our employees, colleagues, friends, and family.

Chesapeake Chapter Certification Mentors
To learn more about Certification feel free to contact one of our Chesapeake Chapter Expert Systems Engineering Professional (ESEP) Certified Mentors. The Chapter Certification Mentors have volunteered to support the local membership and community by assisting those interesting in learning about the Certification process including application, exam, and other specifics necessary to obtain certification at all levels (ASEP, CSEP, and ESEP). Mentors can also address other questions as well such as those associated with Membership. Each mentor has provided a short biography and an email so that you can decide which mentor you prefer to work with during your journey. Selecting a mentor is completely voluntary and is offered as a service only.
Detailed information regarding Certification is also readily available on the INCOSE site www.incose.org/certification.
