Introducing the new incoming 2023 INCOSE-CC Board Members
We just finished our latest elections for the INCOSE Chesapeake Chapter Board of Directors. The following candidates won the election and were certified by our Election Committee Chairman. Congratulations to the new officers of the Chesapeake Chapter of INCOSE.
President-Elect (Term 2023 - 2025)
Mr. Sean McGervey
Mr. Sean McGervey is the Director of MBSE Services and Model-Based Enterprise for North America at Dassault Systèmes, where he leads a team of expert MBSE consultants and trainers. Prior to joining Dassault Systèmes, Sean was a Systems Engineer and MBSE Instructor at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, where he was the US Navy’s Architecture Lead on a Major Defense Acquisition Program and contributed to efforts supporting Digital Engineering Transformation of APL’s Sponsors. Sean founded and led the APL MBSE Community of Practice while also developing and teaching three internal courses in MBSE. Prior to working at APL, Sean worked for 15 years in the Systems Engineering Department at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Baltimore, Maryland. While there, Sean practiced MBSE on multiple programs and founded the Northrop Grumman Corporate Model-Based Engineering (MBE) Community of Practice. Sean is also Chairperson of the INCOSE Digital Engineering Information Exchange Working Group (DEIXWG), a key element of the broader effort to implement the US DoD’s Digital Engineering Strategy. Sean is an OMG Certified Systems Modeling Professional at the Model Builder: Advanced level.
Programs Director (2023-2024)
Dr. Michael Ali
Dr. Michael Ali is the VP of Engineering Operations for Saratech, an engineering services company located in Mission Viejo, California. His department is responsible for management, analysis, design, and implementation of client projects. The company services ranges from product research and development to implementation and deployment of CAD, CAE, and PLM systems.
Prior to Saratech, Dr. Ali served as CTO and/or CIO for Omega Engineering, Grainger, Harman, and Jaguar and Land Rover, as well as SVP of Applications for US Foods. Prior to these roles, he held various positions in Ford IT in Dearborn, Michigan, Manager of Deskside Services, Manager of Vehicle Line Systems, and Manager of Product & Manufacturing Design (CAD/CAM) Systems. Prior to joining Ford, he worked in management and engineering positions at General Electric, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, NASA, and NIST.
He received his PhD in Computer and Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic in 1999, his Master's in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford in 1986, and his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Princeton in 1983.
Treasurer (2023-2024)
Mr. Hanish Mehta, ASEP
Mr. Hanish Mehta has worked at M.C.Dean Inc. for over two years, performing the role of a systems integration engineer on multiple transit projects in the DMV area, with the majority of his time spent on the Purple Line light rail being built in Maryland.
Before joining Dean, Hanish pursued his M.S. in Systems Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park. During his time at UMD, Hanish worked as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Systems Engineering and Integration Lab under Dr. John Baras, and as a Teaching Assistant for an introductory systems engineering course. As part of his thesis, Hanish participated in a co-op with Fluor Corp. where he worked on developing and prototyping a test tracking tool for application on the Purple Line light rail project.
Hanish holds the following degrees:
B.S. in Applied Engineering Sciences from the Michigan State University
M.S. in Systems Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park
He has been an active member of the INCOSE CC, and has previously served as the Secretary and Vice President of the INCOSE UMD chapter. He holds an ASEP certification, and has also been a recipient of the INCOSE CC Member Scholarship.
Communications Director (2023-2024)
Mr. Dan O’Neil, PMP\PgMP
Since 2018, Mr. Dan O’Neil has served as Innovation Lead and Systems Engineer at Johns Hopkins University - Applied Physics Lab (APL). In his role Dan has supported a variety of sponsors including the Navy, Air Force, Health & Human Services (HSS), Defense Health Agency (DHA), and Center for Disease Control, and. His work involves designing and developing integrated systems that combine advance technology and human interaction.
After graduating from West Point, Dan served 10 years in the US Army including combat engineer command in Germany and the Gulf War. After leaving the service, Dan worked in business planning and innovation and roles for the Walt Disney Company and Mayo Clinic.
Dan O’Neil holds the following degrees:
B.S. in Applied Mathematics from the US Military Academy (West Point)
M.S. in Industrial Systems Engineering for the Georgia Institute of Technology
M.B.A. from Duke University
Dan is currently pursuing an M.S. in Systems Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University and a member of INCOSE, INFORMS, HIMMS, and Project Management International (PMI).
He is a certified project and program manager (PMP\PgMP) and an active practitioner in systems engineering in both health and defense systems as well as a former school board member and mentor of student innovation teams through APL's Student Program to Inspire, Relate and Enrich (ASPIRE).
